Colorado Open Range Law

Please read this law carefully, especially Section 35-46-102(2). Everyone knows that Colorado is an "open range" state and animals must be fenced out. What most people do not know is that you cannot stock your land with more animals that it can support knowing that they will be grazing open range. The stocking rate on Red Creek Ranch depends on the area, but is between 25 to 60 acres per animal unit. If you put too many animals on your land and they graze on open range, you are guilty of trespass and are liable for damages.
